According to the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a call to assist from the Awendaw Fire Department for a workplace accident. The dispatch described an individual who had “apparently sustained severe injuries from electricity.” Emergency crews airlifted the victim to Medical University Hospital.
According to South Carolina Electric & Gas, workers had been in the area and were working utility equipment at the time of the incident.
No matter if it is at home or on the job, no one ever sets out to have an accident. Even when you are focused on safety, accidents can still happen. Being injured is bad enough, but the high cost of medical care and the lost income suffered from being off the job can take a toll on you and your family.
