Reese M. Stidham, IV, Esq.
Reese M. Stidham, IV is an associate at Howell and Christmas, LLC and concentrates his practice in worker’s compensation, personal injury law and criminal defense. He received his J.D. from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 2006, where he served on the Southeastern Environmental Law Journal and his B.A. degree from Hampden-Sydney College in 2001. He is a former law clerk to the Honorable Doyet A. Early III, Circuit Court Judge. He began his practice serving the people of Charleston County as an Assistant Public Defender, defending juvenile clients in Family Court. He then spent four years as a General Sessions PublicDefender representing over one thousand clients. He gained experience in and out of the court room with all types of criminal cases, from minor drug offenses to the most serious felony cases including criminal sexual conduct, armed robbery and murder. He is a member of the Charleston County and South Carolina Bar Associations, the South Carolina Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the National College for DUI Defense, and serves as a board member of the Injured Worker’s Advocates.
He has trained at the National Criminal Defense College Trial Practice Institute in Macon GA, the National Institute for Trial Advocacy and has been trained in National Highway Traffic Safety Administration DWI detection and standardized field sobriety testing. In addition to his active participation in the legal community, Reese also makes community service a priority.He is proud to serve as President of Lowcountry Helmets for Kids, a non-profit organization that provides bicycle helmets to children in need though cooperation with local law enforcement and schools. He also serves on the board of the South Carolina Lowcountry chapter of ThinkFirst, a national injury prevention foundation whose goal is to seek to reduce injuries to our young people through education, research and policy. Reese, his wife and two children are members of First Scots Presbyterian Church in Charleston.
